Awesome Bell For Sale!
This about 15" diameter bell appears to be brass or bronze (non-magnetic) with nickel plating. The cradle appears to be at an incline from the base, so that we had to place a block under the base to get the cradle straight up and down in the pictures.Also, the base is curved as if it fit on a locomotive boiler or some other curved, non-flat surface. We got it years ago and really do not have any other information on it. It appears to have no markings at all on the bell, although there may be 3 very small stampings near the top that we can't make out, even with a magnifying glass. The cradle has 3500 and maybe Z127? cast into it. It exceeded our 150 lb scale, so it probably weighs between 160 and 200 lbs.
It is very thick as can be seen from the pictures of the underside of the bell. Its ring is beautiful to hear. Overall it stands around 29" tall. Maybe it is off of a steam locomotive, or maybe a ship or ? If anyone has any information based on the pictures and description, we would appreciate that as well.
